Unemployment

Unemployment was one of the reasons for the fall of Rome. People who owned slaves could produce goods cheaper than farmers who had to pay workmen. This being said, "slave owners could sell their crops at a cheaper price." Many "farmers lost their farms or had sell their farms because they couldn't compete with the slave owner's low prices." In Rome, there was a time where there was about 100,000 unemployed people to feed just because there weren't enough jobs to accommodate them.(10 reasons for Fall of Rome worksheet) Having so many people without jobs may have devoted Rome to collapse.
